The Ambassador to Lithuania discussed joining the NATO center for advanced experience on Energy Security

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania, Vladimir Yatsenkovsky, discussed with the leadership of the Lithuanian foreign and defense departments the prospects of Ukraine joining the NATO Center of Excellence for Energy Security.

"As part of the participation in the event on the occasion of the transfer of authority of the Center's director from Colonel Gintaras Bagdonas to Colonel Romualdas Petkevičius, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia held separate interviews with the leadership of the Foreign Ministry and Lithuanian Ministry of Defense regarding the prospects for Ukraine's joining the said Center and further cooperation in the energy sphere, in the message.

According to the embassy, the ceremony of transferring the powers of the director of the NATO Center for Excellence for Energy Security was held in Vilnius on August 14.

As reported, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivan Klimpush-Tsintsadze said during a working visit to Lithuania in April that Ukraine intends to join the NATO Center of Excellence for Energy Security by the end of the year.

The official opening of the Center took place on August 6, 2013 with the participation of the then General Secretary of the Alliance Anders Fogh Rasmussen and the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite.
